On April 15, 2016, S-Life Magazine released an online version of an interview with Troian, “A Conversation With Troian Bellisario”.

Throughout the interview, Troian discussed everything from relationships (including her own with fiancé Patrick J. Adams),

“It’s the comfort in the uncomfortable. We love our own dramas. We love all of the negative things, because we’re used to it. It’s addictive. It’s scary to suddenly stand up and say, ‘I would like to change this situation, possibly for the better.’”

to food and even how she feels about where she is in her life right now.

“I don’t know if it was just me trying to be rebellious against my parents – because both my parents were in television – but I don’t think that I ever expected this. I grew up never watching television, mostly because what you chose to watch was kind of a political act in my family. If it’s not dad or mom’s show, it says a lot, you know? So I just didn’t want to watch TV. I became obsessed with film and theater, because I could watch these films over and over again. It seemed, to me, like such a different type of creation where you were creating this one thing that was going to stand the test of time, or not. I loved movies and plays because they were constantly regenerating or having a new opinion of something — a new version. You could do Shakespeare 10,000 different ways. I could watch The Godfather 10,000 times and still find something new in it. And because I was drawn more to film and theater, I never imagined myself being in television, especially not in the same role for seven years.”

In the very well developed interview, Troian also mentions her aerial training, body image, backlash from social media, Instagram, her future, and Jessica Lange!

Troian Bellisario, Tom Felton (the Harry Potter films), and Ben Winchell (the upcoming Max Steel) have signed on for Feed, an indie drama from rookie director Tommy Bertelsen. Production is set to begin November 9 in Los Angeles. This film marks Bellisario’s first feature-length screenplay.

The story revolves around Olivia (played by Bellisario) and Matthew Grey (Felton), 18-year-old twins born into a world of privilege and high expectations. There are almost no boundaries between them; even their dreams are connected. As the twins prepare for their last year of school together, an unexpected tragedy splits them apart, leaving the surviving sibling to learn how to live without their other half — or test how far they are willing to go to bring them back.

Indy Entertainment’s Ross Kohn and Nancy Leopardi are producing along with Bellisario and Bertelsen. Financing was provided by Bank Leumi USA with assistance from David K. Henry.

Shakespearean plays have been reimagined and retold to reflect the most important social issues of the time for centuries. Troian Bellisario’s upcoming short film, Still A Rose, is following in that tradition. Troian is starring in a modern-day cinematic adaptation of Romeo & Juliet that expands the diversity of the story across two spectrums: race and sexual orientation.

This film is self-described on its Facebook page as such: “Employing Shakespeare and Cinema, two great artistic languages come together to re-introduce a timeless tale of young love and tragedy to a brand new audience. Refocusing literature’s most iconic young lovers, ’Still A Rose’ weaves through couplings of mixed-race and same-gender within the arc of the famous balcony scene (Act II, Scene II) from ‘Romeo and Juliet.’”

The short stars Troian Bellisario as Juliet, and in a wonderfully compelling twist, the film also stars Will Branske as Juliet, with Brandon Crowder and Tinuke Oyefule as the tragically romantic Romeos. The balcony scene is played out in interweaving scenes, with both same-sex and straight pairings. The result is a breathtaking ride through one of literature’s most well known scenes, which somehow feels new again.

Check out the trailer below:

Premiering on Wednesday, June 24th at the Frameline San Francisco LGBTQ International Film Festival as part of the “Bi Candy” shorts program, Still A Rose presents the Romeo and Juliet balcony scene through four different couples, adding gender and sexuality inclusivity to the classic play. In the film, directed by hazart, Pretty Little Liars star Troian Bellisario plays Juliet, but she’s not the only one — nor does she confess her to love one sole Romeo. Instead, Still A Rose shows four different couples as the star-crossed lovers, bringing new diversity to the story that while common in theater, is new to film, and hazart and Bellisario share what opportunities and challenges that re-telling presented.

Troian will be starring in the short film ‘Amy’, described as “a fucked up little love story”. Bellisario stars alongside Alex Karpovsky in this short film written and directed by Jacob Chase. The official plot of the short is featured in the IMDB listing of the film:

A pair of ex-lovers spend a spontaneous afternoon together that could either lead to rekindled love or further heartbreak.

Amy will be screening at the Palm Springs International ShortFest 2015 on Thursday, June 18 at 4:00pm.
